Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Swirlydoos March Kit Reveal Blog Hop

Welcome to Swirlydoos' March Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party!!

If you came here from Karola's blog, then you are on the right track.  If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there.  We have some AMAZING projects for you to see today and as a bonus we have 2 manufacturer blogs that are joining in the fun and a 3rd manufacturer offering a prize!! There are 4 prize packs up for grabs so make sure to follow along and have fun!!

Here are my first 3 projects.  I will have a few more that will be revealed during the month.

This layout is based on the monthly sketch that came with the kit.  This is my DD about 5 years ago running through the surf in the Outer Banks.  She was having the time of her life!  I'll bet you couldn't tell.  LOL

I finally got my silhouette to actually cut, and not rip, my paper.  I used it to cut two of the doily-like circles and I offset them so my photo would stand out.

The main kits comes with a big piece of burlap, a sheet of Kraft-colored tissue paper and a pack of gorgeous dimensional stickers.  I used my Tattered Florals die to cut the burlap, tissue paper and some patterned paper.  I added multi-medium to the burlap and when it started to harden I pinched the petals to give it some structure.  I added a dimensional "bauble" and some liquid pearls.  Voila!

My DD got her first tween-ager hair cut.  She has had long hair all her life and really, really wanted to cut it short.  It looks really cute, but it makes her look older.  *sniff*  I decided to make this page to be representative of her and where she is in her life; not quite grown up but not a little girl anymore.  She is talking on the phone, texting, changing her clothes every time she leaves her room, painting her nails and giggling....a lot!  LOL

I looooooove that cameo!!  Guess what?  It came in the kit!  So befitting my baby girl.

So, I found this new embossing powder, it's called Shabby Green and made by Stampendous.  OMW  It rocks!!!

This month's technique kit is all about Canvas Corp!  Krissy went to CHA and came back with pictures of this AWESOME suitcase that one of the Canvas Corp designers created.  So, she got us the product and let us have at it!    This is a picture of the front of my suitcase. I misted it with Log Cabin Smooch.  I did mist it with Candle Glow Smooch in a few places first and then went over the rest of it with Log Cabin.  I used one of my fave stencils and molding paste to create the leafy flourish.  I used a template to cut the "flap" from the Kraft and Damask paper from Canvas Corp.  I added my own black pearls using a Viva Decor liquid pearl pen.  Once they dried I added some Lumiere gold paint to my finger and went over the tops of them.

I decided to use one of the other cameos that came in our kit and I glued it to the top of a piece of Dusty Attic chipboard.  I painted the chipboard black and then used my finger to add some gold Lumiere paint to it so it matched my pearls.  In this month's embellishment add on is a box full of 50 buttons!!  I used two of them and looped the chiffon ribbon through them.  The ribbon was from the kit too!!

Here is the back of my suitcase.  I carried the design around to the back so that it had a complete look.

When you open up the suitcase (which is 2 canvases that I attached using hinges) you have shadow boxes (the back side of the canvases).  I used patterned paper from Canvas Corp and Glitz to give it a finished look.

In the tech kit we got these cute little file folder tabs and a 2 ring binder to create a mini album.  The vintage jewelry you see came in our Embellishment add on.  I cut a small pic of my DD and put it in there.  I used some of the paper from our main kit to embellish the mini.

That's it for now!  I hope I was able to inspire you to create!!
Thanks so very much for including me in your day!!
XO,
Lisa

You have until midnight, eastern time, on March 15th to complete the hop. Winners will be announced on the Swirlydoos Blog on March 16th.  In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:
1: Visit all of the blogs and leave a comment on each. This way we know you were there. Become a follower if you're not already. Take your time. There are beautiful things to see along the way.
2: Before you leave each blog, look for the “special” words and write it down.
Once you have visited all the blogs and collected all the special words, they will create a sentence.
3: Finally, go back to the Swirlydoos blog and leave a comment letting us know how much fun you had AND tell us the sentence that was created with all of the special words you collected.

My special words are :KINDS OF
