Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Once Upon A...Sketch and Swirlydoos!

Swirlydoos is sponsoring a month of sketches during February over at Once Upon A...Sketch!  If you haven't already, you really need to head over and check out Nadia's team and the site.  I've made it a goal of mine to try to journal more on my pages.

Here is the sketch

Journalling Criteria/theme: LOVE
February 14th is Valentines Day here in Australia and in many parts of the world. For this challenge we would like you to create a project about the one MALE you love. And we do not mean just your partner or spouse. We mean any male in your life.

There you have it.  Here is what I created.
I flipped the sketch on its side and used a picture that I have framed in my house.  This is back about 6 years ago.  We were at a friend's camp and my DD had been swimming in the lake.  Kids never come out of the water even when they are blue!  We finally got her out of the water and all bundled up with her dad.

I created the circle element from the sketch by using a circle I had cut from scrap paper and I misted over it.  I removed the template and stamped around the edge then used a red pastel to create more of a defining edge.

I am really crazy about the Lille collection from 7Gypsies.  This paper gave me a great backdrop.

I hid my journaling on this paper.  Pull on those gorgeous Petaloo stick pins and the paper comes up with them revealing my journal notes.

I embossed this watch by Art Parts and then embellished it with all new Petaloo Darjeeling flowers.

Aren't those flowers gorgeous?!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to play over at OUAS
