Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Swirlydoos Reveal!!!!

It has been a while in the making but the wait was worth it!!  We are now able to reveal our September kit and October's kit will be revealing next week!  We will be back on schedule with our November Kit Reveal Blog Hop in 11/5.  Stay tuned!!!

September's kit is seriously chock full of stuff.  I just kept standing there looking at all of the goodness in the main kit and I still hadn't looked at the add-ons.  This kit is full of Bo Bonny and Prima papers.  I am so incredibly drawn to worn, vintage and warm papers and when you add text, well that is enough to drive me over the edge.

This page I called Lovely Memories and it really talks about my DD.  I was honored recently when friends of ours asked me to be their photographer for their vow renewal. The ceremony took place in a park gazebo next to a pond and I snapped this picture of my daughter as she was walking towards the water's edge to see the ducks and sea gulls.  This page really feels to me like it describes my DD.  It is eclectic, girlie, a bit grungy and somewhat random.  That's my baby girl in a nut shell. LOL

I decided to play around with the paper and ended up with the folded over "thing" and decided to bind it all together with the twine that came in the kit.  I ended up really liking the end result.  I used some of the kit paper to make my shabby sunflower.  I will be posting a tutorial over at Swirlydoos on how to make it.

I fussy cut the clock and covered the face in crackle accents.  I adore the metal trinkets  that came in the kit and I decided to dangle it below the clock.

This is the kit sketch and these are more pictures I took at the wedding.  I love matted and double matted photos.  It really sets of your pictures.  I used pearls to add accents to my leaves.

I used one of my favorite stamps, it is a post card.  I could use that on almost every page I make.  I used Mairgold Distress Ink and some Nibs to color in the flowers and Bundled Sage to color in the leaves.

I love blue and brown together and the contrast they provide. Music is big in our home.  My DD has been taking private piano lessons for 4 years and she has now joined band in school and is learning the trumpet. I triple matted this photo and added a 4th layer with the black trim that we received.

I have this thing with birds.  I really want to use them a lot but can never find ones that I really like.  Well, I really like these ones from Prima.  I fussy cut the ETC circle and tucked my picture behind it.  Love those itty bitty flowers!

I folded a strip of paper so that I created pleats and added that over the top of some card stock I had punched.

This page gave me fits.  Grr.  I decided to rough cut the center circles and use what was left of the die cut from my sketch page. The photo represents reflection to me.  Not only because of the obvious fact that she is looking in the water, but because when you do everything around you seems to become quiet and you are left with your thoughts and the rippling water. My DD has been taking karate and learning a lot about hard work and discipline and that is why the little blurb about courage seemed to fit this page so well.  I'm very proud of her.

Thank you soooooooo much for stopping by today.  Look for my tutorial over at Swirlydoos in a few days.  Also, keep an eye out for our October reveal sometime next week.  We will be back on schedule with our November kit and looking forward to having our blog hop on 11/5.

Hugs,
Lisa
