Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Make sure to stop by our Facebook page and "like us".  This way you can keep up on all of the other little things that goes on with Swirlydoos!!

This is my favorite page with this kit.  I really enjoyed putting it together.  I played with fire.  One of my fave distressing techniques.  I burned the edges of the paper.  Then I fussy cut a thick border line from around each of the globe maps on the paper and took the small strip and flipped it over and used it as an accent piece around the maps.  I also placed back card stock behind as an accent. I added drippy globs (yes, that is a technical term)  LOL using the Olive Vine Silk Acrylic Glaze that came in the kit.

I fussy cut images from some of the other paper in the kit.  I used some of the foil tape that came in the kit to create a frame and using my finger and a metal embossing plate, I embossed the the tape.  I applied some black paint to a paper towel and lightly swiped it across the embossed foil to give it age and dimension.  I finished off my "picture" by using some liquid pearls to highlight the flowers and leaves.

This page was created for our monthly kit sketch.  Here is the sketch:

I used the stencil and black gesso that came in our embellishment add on to create the damask images on the paper.  Then I used Ranger's Green Patina mist over the top.
I used kit paper and the foil tape to create my sunflower.  I added some paint to the foil tape to make my flower pop just a little.  I finished it off by adding a button embellishment from Petaloo as a flower center.

I had a lot of fun matching the hue in my photographs with the paper.  This is one of my fave photos from a few years back and it really goes well with the paper.  I used some white gesso on the edges as well as white paint and a honeycomb mask.

I added some white gesso to my flowers and some blingy rhinestones to my metal pieces.

I had fun creating the dashes around the main focal points of my page using a white marker.  I used a butterfly punch and some kit paper along with some of the trim that came in the kit to create my butterflies.

Lisa, this kit was made for you!!!!! Well, from the bottom up, this is one of my favorite of your photos, too, taken at the Castle a few years ago; love the gesso and touches of green and the awesome vintage feel of this page. And your middle page is so elegant: your altered photo, your black gesso'ed damask, those beautiful vines, and those so liftable flowers (love that idea!!!!).
Like you, I love the top page the best: the reversed circles, the burnt edges and the metal frames that give this such a vintage feel along with your Silks drippage... totally stunning!!!!!
