Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Vintage Soul ~~Petaloo~~

When I heard that we were going to be pairing up Darjeeling flowers with paper by Tim Holtz you could hear an audible "aaahhhhhh".  Right up my alley!  LOVE this stuff!  I just happen to have some of Tim's Crowded Attic in my stash...go figure. ;)

I created this layout based upon a sketch by Mistra.  I really loved all of the layers and the possbilities that came with her sketch.  I distressed my photo by using sand paper on it.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out. :)  Would ya look at those flowers!  The color is off the hook; soft and shabby, deep and intense.  Yum.

I used Darjeeling in Shabby Beige and Seaside. I managed to tuck in a few cattails from a Darjeeling Foliage package.

Yup, chipboard clouds from Petaloo!!  I painted these in white, and then dry brushed some blue paint to give them dimension.  I finished them off by sanding the edges a bit.

I decided to alter a spool from Art Parts using some of Tim's Lost and Found paper.  I have used Petaloo chipboard keys and Darjeeling Dahlias in Shabby Beige and Frosted Roses in Seaside.

I love the way the dahlia and frosted rose give my project a decidedly feminine and old-timey feel.  I added a Petaloo Hat Pin to finish it off.

I altered a few chipboard keys from Petaloo and added some jewels to give them a more "pirate-treasure" kind of feel.  They look like they have a story to tell.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you've seen something that inspires you!!
XO,
Lisa
