Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Swirlydoos Antiquities June Kit

Hi everyone!  Well, I missed the blog hop due to a camping trip, BUT, I was still able to work our June kit!  It is very "manly" in a lot of ways and this month we are paying tribute to Dads.

I've scrapped this photo before.  It really, in my eyes, is a family classic.  This page is based on this month's kit sketch.  I printed the photo in washed black and white and then using sand paper I sanded the edges and into the middle in parts of the photo.  I absolutely love the effect.

I used a stencil and some molding paste to create the circles.  Then, using my thumb, a stiff paint brush and some blue acrylic paint, I splattered the paint around my page.  The balloons are from one of my fave Dylusions stamp sets. :)  I also used my fave distressing technique....fire!  I burned sections of my paper.

I've also scrapped this photo before, but since we are focusing on Dads, I thought that a picture of his girls was in order.  From left to right: my Step-GD, my Step-DD, and my DD.

I had a lot of fun fussy cutting circles from one of the patterned papers in the kit and then dressing them up with some Liquid Pearls.

This month's technique kit featured this little chest from Kaisercraft.  Isn't it sweet?!

I used a Tim Holtz clock mask and some molding paste to create the texture and the picture.  Once it dried, I used a sea sponge and some acrylic paint.  Then I misted all of it and made sure to get real close in some places and let it pool up and run down the box.  When everything dried, I used a rasper and roughed up the corners and edges a bit.

Thanks for stopping by!!  The next Swirlydoos Blog hop will be on 7/5!!  Hope to see you there. :)

Hugs,
Lisa
