Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Delicate Treasure ~~Petaloo~~

A few years back we went on a family vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  My daughter was running up and down the beach looking for sand dollars and pirate treasure.  Instead of gold she found a feather from a sea gull and she couldn't have been happier.  Not sure the birds were so excited as she kept chasing them trying to give it back.

I have packs of these gorgeous and vibrant Flora Doodles so I decided to just have fun and play with color. Flora Doodles are a perfect blank canvas. Sure they are perfectly gorgeous just as they are, but a little bling never hurts. ;)

I decided to stamp an image in white onto my Flora Doodles.  Then I folded the flower in half and placed a Grungeboard flower base shape over it.  I curled back the top petals and then accented with Liquid Pearls.  I really love the way they came out.

I colored the grungeboard shapes using Picket Fence Stain and 2 Dylusions mists; Bubble Gum Pink and Cut Grass.  I also used the same Bubble Gum Pink on my background paper along with Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest.  Aren't the colors stunning?!!  I used a paper towel and my finger to blend the mist colors and stain on my grungeboard.

Here, I stamped the base flower using the same stamp but this time I added some Fairy Dust glitter to the ink before it dried. I layered a smaller flower on top and using Glossy Accents, I added some beads for my flower center.

In case you are paying attention, you'll note that I've used the same stamp 3 different ways. This is one of Donna Salazar's stamps.  Once in black to accent the circle around my photo, once in white to customize my Flora Doodles, and once again in white but with Fairy Dust Glitter to give it some shimmer.  Next time you pick up a stamp try using it more than one way on your next project.

Here you can see some of the itty bitty Flora Doodles. I smooshed these together to make them nice and plump and then glued them in place!

The next time you are looking to totally customize your flowers and make them look totally unique, grab some Flora Doodles and your favorite stamp!!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I appreciate your support!!

XO,
Lisa

I was just wondering about stamping on flowers (after I lost an ebay item - these fabulous white Primas with what looked like a black design stamped on them) I am definitely going to try stamping on a few just to see if I can make my own! And I love how your white space around the photo draws your eye to it - lovely colors.

Lisa this is just beautiful! I love the way you have played with the colours you have used, and the stamping is such a great idea for those leftover flora's. Your daughter is just gorgeous. But what a stunning use of colour across the whole page!
