Emerging Color Stamping Technique

Ok, I'll admit it...I really love stamping and the more I stamp the more I want to stamp. It's a wonderfully vicious circle. Emerging Color is one of those techniques that have some very basic and constant elements to it, but the creative license is all yours in how you present it. I'm sure if you Google or YouTube you will find a ton of tutorials and a lot of them will be very similar. Emerging Color boils down to this one word: resist. This is at its very core a resist technique. The whole trick to doing this is to remember that you will work in layers.

Swirlydoos November Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party

Welcome to Swirlydoos November Kit Reveal Blog Hop BLOCK PARTY!!!

That's right, we are having a party and you are all invited. If you came here from Crafter's Workshop then you are on the right track.  If not, go back to Swirlydoos blog and pick up the trail from there.

We have some amazing projects for you to see today and as a bonus we have 3 manufacturer blogs that are joining in the fun!! But wait! We also have a Guest Designer along for the ride this month, Natasha Naranjo Aquirre!!! *confetti in the air and noise makers galore* There are 5 prize packs up for grabs so make sure to follow along and have fun!!

This is a picture of my DD when she was 4.  I love this picture so much, it is one of the few that I have an 8x10 of.  Too cute!  I love how well Glitz and Kaisercraft get along in this kit.

I painted and glittered-up a Kaisercraft chippie and set it along side that delicious resin embellishment from Prima.  I fussy cut a butterfly from some of the kit paper too.  I decided to add some of the white eyelash trim from the kit, behind the resin piece.  I think it brings some softness to the page.

Hello gorgeous!  I adore Petaloo's Glittered Fluers and the velvet minis.  So dainty and girlie!

This is for the sketch that came with the kit.  This is a photo of my DD and her BFF.  This is from 2010.  We were at the state fair and it was the hottest day on record.  Just my luck.  I decided to try my hand at sewing.  OY!  I am determined to get better, so I have to keep working at it.  I'm fairly happy with the result.

My DD's t-shirt says Friends Are Forever, Boys Are Whatever.  I echoed that sentiment on my page.  I painted the Kaisercraft chippie tower and then used some of the rub ons from the kit to embellish it.  I added some more of the white eyelash trim to soften things up and stamped around the outer edge of the circle.  Isn't that bird's nest the cutest!!

I have a set of new stamps that I have been dying to use and this was my opportunity.  I bought some really whimsical stamps by Dylusions and felt that this striped, swoopy edge was perfect to help frame my picture.

This is another picture of my little cutie when she was 4.  *sigh* We were at a baby shower and there were these cute little plastic purses with favors in them.  She HAD to have one.  What girl wouldn't?  I once again tried making nice with my sewing machine.  I'm getting there.  LOL

I threw together that large pink flower by using some of the coordinating card stock.  I used my newest favorite punch from Martha Stewart and punched out a small strip from the patterned paper for the center.  Then I topped it off with a little velvet mini beauty from Petaloo.  I created leaves by using a die and pattered paper.  I then used a star shaped stamp I have to create the star.  I folded it in some placed and then used a stylus to "puff" it up.  I wanted a 3-d look to it.  I used pop dots behind it to bring it off the page.

Here is a card I threw together with some of the scraps I had left over from my layouts.  Card making is another thing I am trying to wrap my head around. I'm always in awe of those who create jaw dropping cards.  They make it look so easy. Yah, you know who you are.  I've got my eyes on you.  LOL

I used one of the stamps that came in the embellishment kit, the bird on the branch.  I also used the Eiffel Tower and blue flower rub on from the kit.  I added one of my own Tim Holtz stamps ad there you have it!  I once again made the small leaves from scraps of patterned paper and cut off branches from the Prima branch we received.  Love the Petaloo flowers!

My last project was the writing desk that came in the Project kit.  I did a lot of fussy cutting on this one.  I created the envelope using some of the paper and rub ons that came in the kit.  I took a tip from fellow DT'er Paulien and added gesso to the little black roses that came in the kit.  It softened them up perfectly and gave me a nice shabby effect.

I cut a clock face out and added some crackle accents.  Then I took one of the Kaisercraft chippie locks and distressed it by using crackle accents, silver embossing powder and vintage photo distress ink.  I like the way it came out.

Once again with the sewing and the rub ons.  I'm telling ya, I'm gonna get this sewing thing down!

You have until midnight, eastern time, on November 9th to complete the hop. In order to qualify to win here is what you need to do:

  1. Visit all EIGHT blogs and leave a comment on each. This way we know you were there. Become a follower if you're not already.  Grab a cuppa somethin' and take your time. There are beautiful things to see along the way. Before you leave each blog, look for the “special” word and write it down.
  2. Once you have visited all the blogs and collected all the special words, they will create a sentence.
  3. Finally, head back to the Swirlydoos blog and leave a comment letting us know how much fun you had AND tell us the sentence that was created with all of the special words you collected.
My special word is BETWEEN

All winners will be randomly drawn. Winners will be posted over on the Swirlydoos blog on the 10th, which also happens to be the same day November's SwirlyHues Contest is unveiled. YAY!
Go forth and have a great time!!!! Your blog hop block party continues over at Petaloo's blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  XO, Lisa

Oh my gosh Lisa! I could stay here all day and look at these projects of yours. In fact, I got lost in your tutorials for a while.... Those pics of your daughter are so sweet - I wish my daughters thought "boys are whatever" :) My youngest is 14 and my other daughter is 17. I have not worked on my scrapbooks for them for sooo long - this blog hop is making me want to tackle them again. But my pages will never look like yours do! These are just gorgeous - I think your sewing on the first one is great - in fact I like the way is kind of wanders - no offense but I think it adds some fun to the page. I have been making cards mostly lately but I am definitely not one of those jaw-droppers - I would like to be :) Your card is beautiful though. That writing desk is breathtaking! My jaw literally dropped when I scrolled to that :) Thanks for sharing these gorgeous projects.
